MockVisa alternatives for AI visa interview practice (2026)
The main MockVisa alternatives for AI visa interview practice are Visaful, Permito, Visaz, PrepKind, YMGrad's US Visa Mock Interview AI and the CheckVisaSlots interview coach. They differ in whether you answer out loud, which visas they cover, the feedback you get and where they run. Visaful, Permito and Visaz have you speak to an AI officer, PrepKind adds a former consular officer review on its Pro plan, and YMGrad focuses on student visas.
We build Visaful. Every claim about another tool on this page comes from that tool's own site, as of October 30, 2026. Features change, so check each site before you choose. For a wider list that also covers VisaInterview.ai, VisaMind and InterviewIvy, see our AI visa interview practice comparison.
What does MockVisa offer?
MockVisa (mockvisa.com) calls itself an "AI-powered US visa interview preparation platform." Its home page leads with F-1 visa questions, and its site description also mentions B1/B2 practice. Its AI officers can be "strict, casual, or neutral," so you get used to tough questions and small talk. After each mock it scores your answers, tone and clarity, gives specific suggestions, and shows an improved version of your answers based on your background. You can also ask it any interview question. It runs as a web app.
MockVisa fits F-1 students who want scored mocks with different officer styles. People look for alternatives when they want another visa type, a phone app, a human reviewer or a different kind of feedback.

What does each MockVisa alternative do well?
Visaful
Visaful is an AI mock interview app for US visa interviews: an AI officer asks your visa's questions out loud and shows what to fix.
What it does well: a skeptical AI officer asks, cuts in and follows up on what you just said, out loud, in 2 to 4 minutes like the real window. The questions come from a bank of 272 questions drawn from reported visa interviews, including 92 "nightmare" ones on money, ties, family in the US and past refusals. After each mock you see a score, the officer's likely decision (Approve, 221(g) or 214(b) risk) with the exact words that drove it, line-by-line notes on your own words, a check against your DS-160 and your top 3 fixes. A short step-by-step guide for your visa teaches what to say before you practice.
Who it fits: B1/B2, F-1 and H-1B applicants who want spoken practice that feels like the window, personalized to their visa, country and consulate. It also practices the US arrival, Global Entry and NEXUS interviews.
Permito
What it does well: Permito (permito.ai) offers a mock interview with an AI consular officer that "challenges your answers, catches red flags." You speak naturally, and the AI asks follow-ups and catches contradictions. Each session ends with a mock verdict, 3 specific things to fix and a confidence score. Its site also has tools, including a DS-160 checker, a documents checklist and a bank balance calculator.
Who it fits: applicants for one of its 8 visa types who want to practice on a computer in Chrome or Safari, with nothing to install.
Visaz
What it does well: Visaz (visaz.app) is a voice-based AI mock visa interview app. You practice out loud with an AI consular officer and pick a style and difficulty, from a calm officer to a skeptical one who pushes back. Every session ends with a simulated practice result, a score, notes on what to improve and a transcript you can export. It's on the App Store as "Mock Visa Interview: Visaz AI."
Who it fits: people who want to practice on a phone, and applicants for Schengen, UK or Canada interviews as well as US ones.
PrepKind
What it does well: PrepKind (prepkind.com) is built for visa interviews. You can upload your DS-160 confirmation page for an analysis of 3 concerns and 3 strengths, and its simulator adapts to your responses with a rating out of 10 on each criterion it scores. Its Pro plan adds a personal review of your answers by a former US consular officer, plus session recording.
Who it fits: applicants who want a human reviewer on top of AI practice, across F1, H1B, B1/B2, K1 and immigration visas.
YMGrad US Visa Mock Interview AI
What it does well: YMGrad, which also offers study abroad help such as university shortlisting and visa application support, has an AI-trained US visa mock interview officer on its website. Questions cover your profile, your visa type, your money and your ties to home, and each round ends with a result and feedback. You can track your previous rounds over time.
Who it fits: students preparing a US student visa interview, especially those already using YMGrad for applications. Its page says it's "currently valid for student visa interviews only."
CheckVisaSlots Smart Visa Interview Coach
What it does well: CheckVisaSlots, a site that tracks US visa appointment availability, also offers an AI interview coach. It poses challenging follow-up questions, adapts to your strengths and weaknesses, and gives instant feedback on your answers, tone and body language. Its page shows an approved and a rejected sample mock interview.
Who it fits: applicants already using CheckVisaSlots to find an appointment who want practice in the same place.
How do you choose a MockVisa alternative?
- Check your visa is covered. YMGrad covers student visas only. Visaful covers B1/B2, F-1 and H-1B plus US border interviews. Permito, Visaz and PrepKind list more visa types.
- Decide if you'll speak or type. The real interview is spoken and short. Visaful, Permito and Visaz say you answer out loud.
- Look for follow-up questions. Officers ask the next question based on what you just said. Visaful, Permito, Visaz and CheckVisaSlots say their AI follows up.
- Pick the feedback you'll use. A score shows where you stand. Notes on your own words, a check against your DS-160 and a short list of fixes tell you what to change.
- Pick where you'll practice. Visaz has phone apps. Permito runs in Chrome or Safari on a computer. Visaful, PrepKind, YMGrad and CheckVisaSlots run on their websites.
Whatever you pick, practice with real questions for your visa. Our F-1, B1/B2 and H-1B question guides list what officers ask and why.
No tool can tell you what a real officer will decide. A consular officer makes that decision at the window. Practice helps you answer clearly, honestly and in line with your DS-160.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best MockVisa alternatives?
Visaful, Permito, Visaz, PrepKind, YMGrad's US Visa Mock Interview AI and the CheckVisaSlots interview coach. Visaful is built for spoken US visa practice with follow-up questions, the officer's likely decision and notes on your own words. Visaz runs on phones, PrepKind adds a former consular officer review on its Pro plan, and YMGrad focuses on student visas.
Is MockVisa only for F-1 visas?
MockVisa's home page leads with F-1 visa questions, and its FAQ says it's "specifically designed for F-1 student visa interviews." Its site description also mentions B1/B2 practice. Check its site for the visa you need.
Which MockVisa alternatives let you answer out loud?
On their own sites, Visaful, Permito and Visaz say you speak your answers to an AI officer. The PrepKind, YMGrad and CheckVisaSlots pages we checked on October 30, 2026 don't say whether you speak or type.
Does any alternative include a human reviewer?
PrepKind's Pro plan includes a personal review of your practice answers by a former US consular officer, according to its site. YMGrad's mock interview page also links to separate mock interviews with human visa experts by video call. The other tools on this page describe AI practice.
Can an AI mock visa interview predict my result?
No. A consular officer decides at the window. Tools like Visaful, Permito and Visaz show a likely or simulated decision from your practice answers, so you know what to fix, but that's practice, not a prediction.
